Mackenzie Brandt writes articles for Ajax Scientific on our blog page. She is very excited to work with the Ajax Scientific Community. She wants to expose STEM educators to relevant topics by assisting the communication and discussion of ideas.
She always had a passion for math and science from a young age. As a child, she had a habit of taking apart pens and watching TV shows like Shelly T Turtle (about different animals). In high school, she joined and captioned her schools Science Olympiad team. If Science Olympiad interests readers, she would love to start a discussion. At University of California San Diego, she studied Environmental Systems. The major focused on Ecology, Behavior and Evolution and also in Environmental Policy. This major highlights interactions with the environment as a system through policies. After graduation, she moved around the world to Bangkok, Thailand. She taught Math, Chemistry and Physics to high school girls. She taught this in English, which was not their first language. During this time, she struggled with memorization vs. problem solving learning.
She would love any and all input. If you agree or disagree with something she has said in a post, comment! If you have an idea for something you want to hear more about, let her know! Please feel free to comment on any of the posts and start a discussion. Mackenzie would love to hear from you!
