P65 Warning Label Info
If you are based in the USA, you may notice a warning label on cancer and/or reproductive risk for some products that may contain listed chemicals under California Proposition 65
We welcome all inquiries to discuss your concerns on product safety. Please reach out to us at 1-855-299-0910 or by email at email@example.com
Please note that the context of our business is to provide quality products for science education and we have done so for over 30 years now. We would not sell any product that we know would harm anyone.
In California, the absence of such a warning would allow people to sue us without demonstrating any harm. As such, we have included this warning to protect ourselves from such lawsuits.
We have included this warning on any product that has the following chemicals: plastics, lead, carbon, mercury and Iodine.
Plastics – In the past, plastics included chemicals to soften them. While our suppliers tell us they no longer use these chemicals, we have included the warning as a precaution.
Mercury and Iodine are present in respective spectrum tubes for the study of spectroscopy. This is advanced science and should be conducted under the supervision of a knowledgeable science teacher.
Lead and Carbon are present in materials for the study of the density of metals. Lead exposure can be detrimental particularly to children and expectant mothers. However, the CDC has determined that touching an item is not a significant pathway of lead exposure for the general public. Rather it is inhalation of small particles and ingestion of them that would be of concern. As such, normal use of our products with these chemicals should not be an issue. We recommend not cutting them and washing your hands after using them. Lead is is present in any material identified as brass or a lead cube or in bimetallic strips for study of the effect of heat on different metals.
